Rias Baixas, Spain
Name Story
Barona is named for a legendary Celtic fortress whose ancient ruins stand on a spectacular peninsula overlooking the Atlantic Ocean near the border with Portugal.

Rocky soils with 18-year old Albariño vines sited high atop the hills overlooking the inlet in the Rosal region of Rias Baixas. Picked by hand in small baskets. Prefermentation maceration and bottled unfiltered.

Tasting Notes
Aroma: Redolent with floral notes and hints of grapefruit and fresh herbs. Taste: Full bodied with apricot and peach flavors, lingering acidity, and a rich, creamy texture.

2004 Il Gattopardo
Sicilia, Italy
Name Story
Il Gattopardo or "The Leopard" is named for Giuseppe di Lampedusa's classic novel, a sensuous social commentary on Sicily's aristocratic past.

Low-yielding, old vines in stony soils on the Southernmost tip of Sicily near the Ionian Sea. Careful selection and temperature-controlled fermentation with native yeasts. Bottled unfined and unfiltered after aging in French oak for 6 months.

Tasting Notes
Aroma: Blackberry and redcurrant. Taste: Fresh cherry with hints of coffee and chocolate with soft, round tannins and a lingering finish.

Name Story
Ortolan is named for the songbird found in Weinviertel's vineyards whose melody is said to have inspired Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

Name Story
Palatina is named for the royal palace 'Aula Palatina' built by Emperor Constantine who encouraged the vineyards in this area to flourish around 300 AD.
